To make his Mark in American rings ![]() 25 August 2008 Mike C Ryan writes: MARK Di Mori flies out to the United States on September 6 to begin his climb into the heavyweight big time. The Perth heavyweight with the Mr Universe looks, fights September 13 on Don King’s championship card in the Beau Rivage casino at Biloxi, Miss, on telecast by Showtime. DiMori, "the Dominator," whose 13 wins include 11 KOs, is matched with American tradesman, Horace Ray Grant (W 12 - 7 by KO - L 2). Mark will then move to Don King’s training camp at a village in Ohio and prepare for an October match. All going well he will lodge in the United States. Don King Productions boxing director, Bobby Goodman, said the 25 year old Aussie had the physique, "American-Italian" name and hard hitting to be a big attraction. Mark’s manager, Ted Allen feels the Biloxi debut is a good omen. It was here that "Uncle Ted" took Australian heavyweight Craig Petersen to defeat world contender Bert Cooper. The risk-taking that made Dominator a kayo artist turned in a new direction in his last bout. He met Ed Mahone, a big-leaguer from St Louis, Mo. Di Mori speeded up his footwork, tightened his defence and secured the points over Mahone. "There was no slugging, I didn’t try to be a crowd pleaser, I never let him touch me with his left lead," Mark said. Ed Mahone had fought Vitali Klitschko for the world heavyweight title. The result persuaded Bobby Goodman that Mark deMori is ready for the big league.
