Shane still a titlist after decade

Photos by DAVID MARTIN WARR

SHANE MOSLEY (black shorts) cops a portside smash from Luis Collazo.

. . the usually left-leading Mosley goes right paw
himself, with better results.

AT 35, he is not quite the Sugar Shane Mosley who won nine IBF
lightweight title fights in the 1990s, who beat Oscar De La Hoya for the WBC welterweight title in 2000 and who crushed our Shannan Taylor defending in 2001. (He lost it to Vernon Forrest in 2002).

Mosley's ringcraft was sweet enough to pick up the interim version of
that same welter title at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas on the weekend. Meeting Luis Collazo for the WBC interim title, Shane won a strenuous 12-round decision.
Floyd Mayweather had vacated it to chase his fifth division title, light-middleweight, against Oscar this May. Mosley has to meet Carlo Baldomir for the WBC title in full.
