FEATHERWEIGHT Champ Chris John’s manager, Craig Christian and their US representative, Sampson Lewkowicz, are close to signing a deal that would have “the Dragon” defending his WBA championship for the seventh time in August.

It is John’s dream to fight in the land of his forefathers, after all “Dragon” is said to be lucky in Chinese lore. Chris John is an Indonesian of Chinese descent from his father’s side. John’s grandfather is Hulan and his grandmother is Hokkien.

Having amassed an impressive record of 39 wins from 40 starts with one controversial draw, there’s no luck about it. These 39 wins include great names like Juan Manuel Marquez, Jose Rojas, Renan Acosta and Derrick Gainer.
