The Super, Super Fight

PRETTY BOY vs GOLDEN BOY
Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
v
Oscar De La Hoya

Floyd Mayweather Jnr. v Oscar De La Hoya

It’s not every day that the biggest names in a sport go head to head, but on May 5 at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas that is exactly what the world is going to see. The best.

Super fights like Hagler and Hearns, Leonard and Duran usually come to mind first = but Oscar De La Hoya has taken Super Fight to a totally different level. Good business, bad business, he has fought the best fighters in the world. Hopkins, Mosley, Trinidad, Chavez, Vargas, Quartey, Mayorga and Pernell Whitaker lit his truly star-studded career. Win, lose or draw, Oscar De La Hoya is Pound for Pound The Super Fight Man.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr. (37-0, 24 KOs) looks forward to showing the whole world he is currently the best pound for pound fighter and possibly the best of all time. Mayweather is moving up from welterweight/147lbs to light-middleweight/154lbs to challenge for the WBC Title that De La Hoya won when he knocked out Ricardo Mayorga. A win over Oscar will defintely strengthen Floyd’s case as the best of all time.

The Las Vegas books have Floyd 2/1 on, and on paper Mayweather has most things in his favour to win this fight. First of all he is in his prime. he has picture perfect boxing skills, power, speed, balance and to date he has never really been tested.
On the other side. Mayweather’s hands are known to give him problems, and he is not a knock out artist, so the extra weight could be a problem.

Oscar might be in great shape but he is not in his prime. Strength, power and experience are all in his favour. Sparring with Shane Mosely is a key ingredient and the fact that De La Hoya lives on Super Fights and all the attention with it. His age and the fact that every fighter’s tank suddenly runs dry one day cast a shadow. The other fact is the best pound for pound fighter in the world is in the other corner. Oscar might think that;s a positive.

The Super Fighter vs Pound for Pound, this fight defines legends and will be a mile stone in boxing history.

There are no World Titles on the undercard, but look out for an explosive eliminator between undefeateds - Filipino sensation, Rey Boom Boom Bautista (22-0, 17KOs) and Argentinian Hot Shot, Sergio Manuel Medina (28-0, 16KOs)
The winner fights WBO junior-featherweight champ, Daniel Ponce De Leon (31-1. 28KOs) from Mexico.
