AT JFK Airport. Team Meehan
were going home on Qantas; the reporter on United
Airlines. Late words.
-What caused those myriad slight rubbings on
Kali's cheeks? Was he thumbed by Rahman? palmed
maybe?
"No, it was just the
two hundred lucky punches he landed," Kali
drawled.
His sense of humour intact,
Meehan will take a rest then pursue restoration
in the New Year.
"I'm not going out on
a low note," said Checkmate.
"I'll be back."
KALI'S mentors, Magic Mark
and Uncle Ted, now realise the training spell
back in Sydney did not work . . broken as it
was at mid-point by a punishing week flying
to New York to get their mugs on screen , then
home again, then NY again. The sparring disrupted.
"For future ventures,
we will spend the whole six weeks over there
in total concentration," said Magic.
LEM Satterfield, sage writer
for the Baltimore Sun, chief source on Rahman,
pointed this out:
"You won't find any other
heavyweight who fought two world champions so
close together - Brewster Sept 4, Rahman Nov
13.
"Kali Meehan needs to
be in with a journeyman when his restoration
begins."
A POLISH woman in the buzzing
foyer of the Southgate Tower: "Kali Meehan
is the best looking of the eight heavyweights!"
