Drumming for November

How soft a touch?

C
ompare the waistlines of these heavyweights. Yes, the winner had the muscular front, and the loser a curve…but we see worse in some Australian heavyweight matchings.

Richel Hersisia of Germany finished off the Hungarian in a minute, drawing fire from Boxing News of London. The German manager made deft reply.

Read it in Friday's NOVEMBER edition.

Boxing's 9/11

A cover story published 9/11 in the Saturday supplement, Good Weekend, called "The Slugger" spread interest. Andrew Rule profiled Jeff Fenech for five pages. Champion meets champion. Rule has won two Walkley Awards for Australia's best journalist; Fenech was designated the WBC's all-time Australian boxer.

Unlike some journalists who write on a boxer while disliking boxing, Andrew Rule is a clear friend of the sport. He approaches "the rough and ready world of fight king Jeff Fenech" in a balanced way, and gives Little big man full say.

Though Good Weekend sells more than half a million copies a week as supplement to the Sydney Morning Herald and the Melbourne Age, not every fight fan bought the paper in time. They hear second hand versions. They'd rather form their own views.

Fighter's Seen and Heard section will carry excerpts in NOVEMBER edition, out Friday.
