Tszyu Awesome: Ko’s Mitchell in three!

by Joe Bridges

Kostya Tszyu

Sharmba Mitchell

What can you say? Nearly two years out of the ring and hints of retirement round the corner and Kostya comes back with as devastating performance as you could ever wish to see. Losing the first round and sustaining a cut above the eye from a head clash ( Sharmba Mitchell was anxious to hold on whenever Kostya looked like opening up the action), Kostya never the less always looked dangerous.

His cocked right hand looked ominous, although he missed with a few but in the second round it struck home, dropping Mitchell and the writing was on the wall.

Late in the third round, Kostya struck again and when Sharmba arose from that knockdown, he copped a couple of perfectly placed body shots, then the final blows to the head and our Kostya was back with a vengeance.

Hopefully talk of retirement from Johnny Lewis and Kostya are now distant memories. WBA champ, Vivian Harris, an interested spectator looms, as does Arturo Gotti. Tszyu puts on a lot of weight between bouts( he enjoys our beer) and maybe he will aim for the heavier welterweight title of Corey Spinks. Whatever, Kostya has stamped himself with greatness. His dedication and modesty is a lesson all boxers could follow.

Robert Drane’s prediction of a tsunami certainly proved to be correct(Saturday’s FOL)

Our adopted Australian has put himself ‘Right up there’ with that stunning performance.
