Lance Thompson

The Mundines will pay him $15,000 for his second prelim fight -- a beginner, only one four-rounder on his record. But Lance Thompson is huge as a rugby league player - captain of glamour side, St George-Illawarra, the Dragons. The team Anthony Mundine played for.

Lance Thompson has agreed to box on Anthony Mundine's next promotion.

He trains at Kostya Tszyu Boxing Academy - trains very hard, we hear.

Last December Lance beat Angelo Hyder's trial horse, Big Eagle (4-12-2) in a four.

The last rugby league heavyweight was Herb Narvo. Herb fought for the Australian heavyweight title in 1942, after three months pro.
He lost to Billy Britt, on disqualification. Less than a year later Narvo knocked out Britt for the title. In 25 seconds!

On the Aussie Rules side, Ambrose Palmer was Australian heavyweight champion (also middle and light-heavy) before the Second World War.

Lance Thompson, a 15 1/2 stone forward, is close friends with Anthony Mundine. Lance is deadly serious about boxing. He dreams the dream of following "The Man" into the boxing big money that can dwarf football pay.

An impossible dream?

One fight at a time.
