Brewster's
break brief
by Mike C Ryan

Lamon Brewster's pilot, SAM SIMON sent FOL this despatch from California:

"Lamon is only out two months. I'd oppose an interim match. Best."

Original diagnosis was that Brewster would be sidelined six months by cheekbone damage Kali Meehan's right glove left on 4 September Las Vegas Mandalay Bay.

Title inactive for half a year? It was suggested that the Meehan v Rahman match in Madison Square Garden on 13 November might be tagged for the Interim WBO title.

Now, of course, forget that. Lamon Brewster can keep his own title on the gas-burner.

Kali Meehan's New York match accompanies title defences by John Ruiz, WBA, and Chris Byrd, IBF.
All three outcomes figure on the 2005 chessboard.

Expect to see the winner of Meehan-Rahman in with the winner of one of those two alphabet matches, around March.

Checkmate Kali lost a few days with flu, but has now resumed training under the eye of Magic Mark Meehan, while manager Ted Allen keeps the pipeline to Don King Productions polished.
