Kali's US time cut

Don King, Kali Meehan,
Uncle Sam and Uncle Ted

Two dawns ago you read that Uncle Sam - in the person of Don King - had summoned Kali Meehan to go train in the USA for his Madison Square Garden match in November.

Well, Uncle Ted has modified the arrangement. Uncle Ted Allen, Meehan's cool manager, persuaded the King's court that Kali would prepare much better in his Australian setting.

So the ANZap heavyweight, aspiring successor to Bob Fitzsimmons, will fly to New York as planned, will go to the Garden this weekend for the media exposure surrounding Trinidad v Mayorga - but will fly back home the following week and enjoy his training in the southern springtime at Parramatta Stadium.

The November heavyweights - Meehan, Rahman, Ruiz, Golota, Byrd and McCline - will be introduced in the MSG ring minutes prior to Trinidad-Mayorga. Some line-up!

The following Tuesday the six participate in a nationally broadcast media conference.

Then it's homeward fly for Meehan, Allen and Janssen.

Kali Meehan will thrive under Austral attention, and cross the Pacific again early November feeling tip-top.

An Amish village in Ohio would have taken a lot more adjusting.
