NEW YORK-The Trinidad v Mayorga
main event in Madison Square Garden tonight
will carry two additional title fights on the
pay-per-view broadcast.
Former two-time world champion and current World
Boxing Organization International Welterweight
Champion Zab "Super" Judah (31-2,
22 KOs), from Brooklyn, N.Y., will fight in
his home state for the first time since 1996
when he fought at The Garden in only his second
professional match.
He will face Wayne "Wawatae" Martell
(24-2, 15 KOs), from Denver, to
earn another title shot. Martell posted back-to-back
wins against former world champions, Livingston
Bramble and Meldrick Taylor in June and July
of 2002.
Judah won his first world title when he knocked
out Jan Bergman in the fourth round for the
International Boxing Federation junior-welterweight
crown on Feb. 12, 2000.
He successfully defended his IBF title five
times and was undefeated in 27 appearances before
he squared off against WBA- WBC champion, Kostya
Tszyu in Las Vegas for the undisputed title
on Nov. 3, 2001. Tszyu knocked Judah down in
the second round and referee Jay Nady halted
the contest.
Judah rebounded to win the WBO junior-welterweight
title before moving to welterweight to challenge
undisputed world champion, Cory "The Next
Generation" Spinks on April 10, 2004.
In a seesaw affair
that saw both fighters hitting the canvas -
Spinks
down in the final round - Judah lost a close
decision. Many ringside observers felt that
if the bout had lasted another minute, Judah
would have KO'd Spinks. Once again, Judah rebounded
to defeat Rafael Pineda to win the World Boxing
Organization Intercontinental title in
Las Vegas on May 15, 2004.
Undefeated WBA super-welterweight champion,
"Tremendous" Travis Simms (23-0, 18
KOs), from Norwalk, Conn., will put his belt
on the line against former WBO champion, Bronco
McKart (47-5, 31 KOs). Simms won his title with
a stunning one-punch knockout of champion Alexander
"Terra" Garcia in Atlantic City, N.J.,
on Dec.13, 2003.
Both fighters were
coming out of a break in the fifth round when
Garcia dropped his guard, which was just enough
time for Simms to knock him out.
Bronco McKart (47-5, 31 KOs), from Monroe, Mich.,
is a former WBO and IBA junior-middleweight
champion. He won his first world title when
he stopped WBO champion Santos Cardona in the
ninth round in Indio, Calif., in 1996. McKart
went on to win the International Boxing Association
junior middleweight title in 1997 with a win
over Ronald Weaver.

Huge
Undercard of Nine Fights |
NEW
YORK- Before the three title fights
at Madison Square Garden,
early arrivals will see eight domestically non-televised
matches, including Rosendo 'El Bufalo' Alvarez
meeting Bebis 'Candela' Mendoza. (Don King usually
sells these prelim fights outside the USA).
The reigning WBA light-flyweight

to name Mendoza the victor after another low
blow in the seventh round.
In a rematch in Las Vegas on March 3, 2001,
Alvarez won the title with a split-decision
victory. Alvarez successfully defended his title
by a majority decision in Little Rock, Ark.,
on March 31, 2003.
In his last appearance, Alvarez
attempted to win the International Boxing Federation
light-flyweight title in a unification match
against the Mexican champion Victor Burgos,
